Kentucky Immigration

Of the 4 million people living in Kentucky, roughly 100,000 are foreign born. It is estimated that there are between 15,000 and 60,000 illegal immigrants living in Kentucky. Kentucky has the sixth largest immigrant population in the United States. The draw of jobs for planting and harvesting crops is largely responsible for the current trends in immigration to Kentucky. Immigration matters before the United States Customs & Immigration Service (USCIS) with regard to residents of Kentucky are handled by the USCIS local field office in Louisville at the General Snyder Courthouse & Custom House. Visitors to the local immigration office should have either an appointment with an immigration official or have pre-scheduled an informational appointment through INFOPASS. While certain immigration applications, such as the N-600, can be filed directly with the Louisville, Kentucky (KY) immigration field office, other applications should be submitted to the appropriate lock box.
