Citizenship Application Processing Times

Once a citizenship application is mailed to the appropriate lock box facility (Citizen Application Filing Locations), the facility will process the application and forward it to the local USCIS office that conducts citizenship interviews for the applicant’s residence.

Processing times can vary based on office volume and/or background checks. Below is chart for the N-400 citizenship application processing times by location. The stated goal for citizenship application processing is 5 months. If the processing time for a location is 5 months, it means that citizenship applications filed five months prior, or later, are being processed. In other words, the location is currently meeting the 5 month processing goal.
