The International Operations Division of US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has opened an office in Anaheim, CA to help process I-601 waivers for grounds of inadmissibility filed in Ciudad de Juarez, Mexico (CDJ). Ciudad de Juarez (CDJ) started a 601 waiver adjudication program in 2007 whereby certain waivers are approved either the same day or within a few days after filing form I-601. Those that can not be approved via this process are referred to regular processing (also known as “backlogged”). The new Anaheim office will aid in adjudicating those waivers that have been referred. USCIS hopes that the new facility will help by significantly reducing processing times and allowing officers in international offices to schedule more appointments with customers and perform other operational duties. The waivers must still be filed first in CDJ and, if the case is sent to Anaheim, the beneficiary will be notified by mail.
